PROJECT - THE WEATHER STATION
The Weather Station installed by IISS Des Ambrois is a Davis Vantage Pro model.
It is formed by a group of sensors and devices mounted on the top of a stake, placed on the roof of the building. They send data in radiofrequency to an inside Console, linked to a personal computer.
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION |
The Meteo Station is placed in Oulx, a village in the western italian Alps.
GPS coordinates: Latitude 45.037 N - Longitude 6.826 E.
Altitude above sea level: 1100 metres.
OUTSIDE STATION |
The Outside Station collects the following measure instruments:
rain and snow collector, provided with a heather
anemometer, measuring wind speed and direction
temperature sensor
barometer
humidity sensor
UV radiation sensor
solar radiation sensor
The station is supplied by lithium batteries, but the heather is connected to 220 V AC.
INSIDE STATION |
Inside Station is made up of a control Console and a personal computer.
The Console shows and records data measured by the outside devices. Outside Station and Console are linked by a wireless network, using 868,35 MHz frequency.
The Console is supplied by 220 V AC power and batteries.
The Console shares data with a personal computer through serial cable; a dedicated software manages information and it is called WeatherLink.
Using this software, data are collected in order to produce weather bulletins and measurement charts. Then the pc station allows data to be transfered on the internet web site of the Institute, using a completely automatic process, via FTP.
